NJ State Police are investigating a crash that killed one person in Newark overnight.
The crash happened on the eastbound side of Interstate 78 near exit 55 in Newark shortly before 11 p.m.
Rescue crews receiving calls of a crash with serious injuries arrived to the scene where they found one person critically hurt at that location.
The victim was later pronounced dead at the scene.
Police closed all traffic to the eastbound lanes for several hours to investigate the crash.
The identity of the victim or the cause of the crash has yet to be determined.
