Police are investigating an armed carjacking at gunpoint that happened overnight in the city.
Cops responded to the Exxon Gas Station that's located in the single digit block of Elizabeth Ave. shortly before 4:30 a.m. on reports of an armed carjacking in progress.
Arriving units located the victim who reported to them that a black male suspect pointed a weapon and demanded his vehicle shortly before officers arrived.
Authorities put out an all city police alert for a "brand new" red Chevy Chevy Malibu that had just been carjacked by a black male suspect who was last seen wearing dark clothing.
Officers flooded several blocks in the city's South Ward in search for the vehicle and the suspect.
Shortly before 5 a.m. officers located the unoccupied vehicle at a location on Irvine Turner Boulevard.
The victim was not injured.
