Robbery in Newark's East Ward Leads to Arrest

A reported robbery that occured in the city's East Ward had authorities apprehending a male suspect overnight.

Cops were called to the area of South Street at Orchard Street at around 10:35 p..m. on reports of a robbery in progress. Units arrived to the scene a short time later where they located the victim who reported being robbed by a male suspect at that location.

Officers canvassing the area were given a description of the suspect when a unit radioed into headquarters that they had one person stopped several blocks away.

After a positive identification of the male suspect, officers placed him in custody without incident.

There were no physical injuries reported.
