Newark Man Among Three Charged in Kearny Gunpoint Robbery

Two of three defendants appeared in court today via video link from Hudson County jail in Kearny accused of conspiring to rob someone at gunpoint Saturday in Kearny.

Zavier A. Moya, 24, of Newark, and Christina Pereira, 21, of Kearny were charged with robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery.

Moya's bail was set at $250,000, and bail by Hudson County Superior Court Judge Bernadette DeCastro.

Christopher Ochoa, third defendant, did not appear today.

Police responded to the 300 block of Kearny Avenue Saturday evening for a report of a robbery.

Upon arrival, the 24-year-old victim told police Ochoa - accompanied by Pereira and Ochoa - armed with a black handgun pointed it at the him and a second man taking two North Face backpacks containing the victim's medication and two LG tablets.

The three then fled in a car, victim added.

Police located vehicle on the 600 block of Schuyler Avenue occupied by the three defendants. The victim identified all three through photographs.
