EMS transported a woman to University Hospital in Newark after the vehicle she was occupying crashed then overturned onto a sidewalk in the city's North Ward.
Rescue crews rushed to the intersection of Grafton Ave. and Summer Ave. shortly before 1:15 p.m. where they arrived to find a woman trapped in a vehicle that had overturned at that location. Firefighters had to sheer the roof off of the vehicle in order to free the woman who was then turned over to Emergency Medical Technicians for her transport to the hospital.
The woman's injuries were no reported to be life threatening.
The cause of the crash is under investigation by the Newark Police Department.
