Here are some talking points from this afternoon's press conference from Newark City Official's and Essex County Authorities on some of the things the city will initiate or discuss to assist in batting crime in Newark.

-Forming new alliance with County and State Police to help The city of Newark.
-No Police Hired from 2010 to 2014
-"We need our own Police Academy for the city of Newark" (RB)

-Down 80 cops by attrition
"150 officers are needed on the streets at any given time to reduce crime." (RB)
"We lost July to the thugs out there but we own August." (RB)
-Sheriff Officer Robert Andrews arrested in connection with gang ties (old news)
-130 guns off the streets so far this year.
-111 young men were arrested this Summer in one day.
-We need the community's help
