Chilly Sunday Morning Across Newark, North Jersey Before Afternoon Clearing

Newark

By: Richard L. Smith

We are waking up to a cool Sunday morning as we prepare to close out the weekend in Newark and across North Jersey.

Good morning, New Jersey, and welcome to Sunday!

If you’re heading out for an early Sunday worship service, you’ll definitely want to grab a jacket or warm coat before leaving home.

It’s currently a chilly 48 degrees in downtown Newark, with a light breeze making it feel slightly cooler.

The good news is that conditions are dry across much of the region, with no precipitation showing up on the radar.

Around New Jersey, temperatures vary this morning. Sussex County is waking up to 39 degrees, Morristown is at 41, Hillside is reporting 44, while Irvington and Toms River are both at 49 degrees.

According to the National Weather Service, skies will remain mostly cloudy through midmorning before gradually clearing.

Afternoon temperatures should reach around 64 degrees, with west winds of 13 to 18 mph and gusts as high as 29 mph.

Tonight, expect clear skies with temperatures dropping to around 47 degrees. Breezy conditions will continue, with gusts reaching 26 mph.

Whether you’re attending worship services, spending time with family or simply enjoying a relaxing Sunday, keep that jacket nearby as the breeze will make things feel a little cooler.
