An 18-year-old Somerset man has been arrested in connection with a series of residential burglaries across Somerset County, including a violent home invasion that left a woman injured, authorities announced.

According to Somerset County Prosecutor John P. McDonald, Mohamadu J. Betts, 18, of Somerset, is accused of targeting homes in Bernards Township, Green Brook Township and Bridgewater Township during October.
The first reported burglary occurred on October 19 at a residence on Whitenack Road in Basking Ridge. Investigators said the homeowner returned to discover a shattered basement window, possible blood droplets and rooms that had been ransacked.
A jewelry box containing costume jewelry was reported stolen.
Three days later, on October 22, Green Brook police responded to a suspicious individual attempting to enter a home on Warrenville Road.
Authorities said the man was seen lingering across the street before returning and entering the residence through an unlocked window.
Approximately $800 in cash and costume jewelry were stolen.
The most serious incident occurred October 29 at a home on Chimney Rock Road in Bridgewater.
Police said a woman was assaulted inside her residence, suffering a laceration to her wrist. The suspect allegedly took her cellphone to prevent her from calling 911 before stealing approximately $2,850 worth of jewelry.
Investigators said the suspect fled on a dirt bike-style electric bicycle. The woman received medical treatment for her injuries.
Detectives identified similarities between the incidents, including clothing, a helmet and a distinctive bracelet reportedly worn by the suspect.
A joint investigation involving the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office Burglary Task Force and local police departments ultimately identified Betts as the suspect in all three cases.
On November 4, authorities arrested Betts without incident in Edison with assistance from multiple law enforcement agencies.
Prosecutor McDonald said Betts faces several charges, including home invasion burglary, burglary, theft and criminal mischief.
Betts was transported to the Somerset County Jail, where he remains pending a court hearing.
