A North Bergen man has been arrested following an investigation into an allegedly altered check that resulted in losses exceeding $170,000, Hudson County authorities announced.

According to Hudson County Prosecutor Wayne Mello, Kevin Santana Rosero, 28, was arrested Friday, October 30, by members of the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Special Investigations Unit.

Authorities said the investigation began in February 2026 after investigators received a referral concerning an altered check deposited into an account belonging to East Side Auto Lab LLC, a business owned by Rosero.

Investigators determined that the check was neither authorized nor intended for the company, resulting in a financial loss exceeding $170,000.

Rosero was charged with second-degree theft by deception. He was arrested at the Prosecutor’s Office in Secaucus and released pending his first court appearance.
