Authorities in Somerset County are investigating a serious three-vehicle collision in Hillsborough Township that left one driver critically injured and sent several others, including a juvenile student, to area hospitals.

According to information released by the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office, the crash occurred around 7:49 a.m. Thursday, October 29, near the intersection of Amwell Road and Cpl. Langon Way.
Investigators said a Nissan SUV traveling eastbound on Amwell Road apparently crossed the centerline and collided with a westbound Ford SUV before striking a Dodge minivan traveling in the same direction.
The Nissan driver, an adult male from Hillsborough, suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to a regional trauma center, where he remained in critical condition.
The Ford SUV driver was also transported to a hospital for treatment.
Authorities confirmed that the Dodge minivan was being used as a school transportation vehicle. Its driver and a juvenile female passenger were taken to an area hospital for medical evaluation and treatment.
Officials said the Ford and Dodge drivers were in stable condition, while the juvenile passenger continued receiving medical care. Her condition was not immediately disclosed.
Members of the Somerset County Collision Analysis Reconstruction Team and Hillsborough Township Police Department's Traffic Safety Bureau responded to examine the circumstances surrounding the collision.
The investigation remains active as authorities await findings from the crash reconstruction team.
