We are waking up to a much warmer Thursday morning in Newark and the North Jersey region compared to the past several days.

Good morning, New Jersey! If you’re up and getting your day started at 4:30 a.m., temperatures in Newark are sitting at 57 degrees.

There’s still a little chill in the air, but conditions are noticeably more comfortable than Wednesday morning.

If you’re heading out to the bus stop or making that early commute, you’ll still want a jacket, but you won’t need to bundle up quite as much.

Some parts of the state are still feeling the cold this morning. Temperatures are around 40 degrees in Sussex County, 42 in Montville, 44 in Trenton, 38 in Toms River, and 43 in Franklin Township.

The good news is that a brief warming trend begins today, with temperatures expected to climb even higher over the next couple of days. Some areas could reach the 70s beginning Friday.

According to the National Weather Service, Thursday will bring plenty of sunshine with a high near 70 degrees. Calm winds will become southwest at 5 to 9 mph during the morning.

Tonight, expect partly cloudy skies with temperatures dropping to around 54 degrees and southwest winds near 7 mph.

Enjoy the warmer weather, and make it a great day, Jersey!
