Authorities are investigating a deadly motorcycle crash that occurred early Tuesday morning in Pequannock Township, Morris County.
According to preliminary reports, emergency responders were dispatched to the southbound lanes of Route 23 near Newark Pompton Turnpike shortly before 2:40 a.m. after receiving reports of a motorcycle crash.
Arriving emergency crews found a motorcyclist down and immediately began lifesaving efforts, including CPR.
Despite those efforts, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene shortly before 3 a.m.
The southbound lanes of Route 23 were reportedly shut down as authorities began their investigation.
The victim's identity has not been released, and the circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation.
