Authorities in Paterson are investigating a shooting Sunday evening that reportedly left one person dead in the city's Eastside neighborhood.
According to preliminary reports, police and emergency medical personnel responded to the area of East 38th Street and 21st Avenue shortly before 8 p.m. on October 25 following reports of a seriously injured person inside a vehicle.
Initial reports indicated that the victim was unconscious and had suffered significant injuries.
As the investigation developed, additional information indicated that the victim had sustained a gunshot wound to the head while inside the vehicle.
The victim was subsequently reported deceased, although authorities have not officially confirmed the death.
Police reportedly requested additional assistance with traffic and crowd control as investigators secured the area.
The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain unclear, and no information regarding a possible suspect or motive was immediately available.
The Passaic County Prosecutor's Office has not yet released an official statement confirming the incident.
