Sunny but Breezy Friday Brings a Fall Chill to North Jersey

Newark

By: Richard L. Smith

Good morning, Jersey! Happy Friday!

We’re closing out the week with temperatures a little warmer than the past few mornings, but don’t let those numbers fool you. It’s still pretty chilly across Newark and the North Jersey region, especially with the wind making it feel colder.

If you’re heading out early to the bus stop or getting your Friday started, you’ll definitely want to grab that warm jacket.

At 4:30 a.m., it’s currently 53 degrees in downtown Newark, but the breeze is making it feel more like 49 degrees.

Around New Jersey, Trenton is checking in at 49 degrees, Belmar at 53, Wrightstown at 50, Paterson at 50, and up in Andover in Sussex County, it’s a chilly 43 degrees.

We’ll see plenty of sunshine today, but the breeze will stick around, keeping that fall chill in the air. Freeze watches are also a concern for portions of South Jersey, particularly around Burlington County, as colder temperatures settle in overnight.

According to the National Weather Service, today will be sunny with a high near 60 degrees. North winds will blow between 6 and 10 mph, with gusts reaching 22 mph.

Tonight, skies will be mostly clear, with temperatures dropping to around 40 degrees and a light north wind.

So, Jersey, we’re wrapping up another workweek with some beautiful sunshine, but that fall chill isn’t going anywhere just yet.

Have a wonderful Friday, New Jersey! Stay warm, stay safe, and enjoy your day!
