Chilly, Windy Start Across North Jersey Before Sunshine Takes Over

Newark

Good morning and happy Thursday, Jersey!

We’re starting off this Thursday morning with some pretty chilly temperatures across North Jersey, and the wind is making it feel even colder. In some areas, it feels just above freezing, so you’ll definitely want to bundle up before heading outside.

At 4:30 a.m., it’s currently 50 degrees in downtown Newark, but don’t let that number fool you. With the wind blowing, it feels more like 38 degrees!

If you’re heading to the bus stop or getting an early start, grab that warm coat, and maybe even a hat and gloves.

Around the region, Somerville is waking up to 37 degrees, Trenton is at 46, and Morristown is sitting at 45. Up in Sussex County, it’s a downright cold 31 degrees!

The good news is that we have a pretty nice day ahead once we get through the morning clouds. Sunshine will take over, helping temperatures climb comfortably into the 60s.

According to the National Weather Service, today will be sunny with a high near 66 degrees. North winds around 10 mph could gust as high as 22 mph, so expect a bit of a breeze throughout the day.

Tonight, skies will remain clear as temperatures drop to around 44 degrees, with north winds continuing and gusts reaching 21 mph.

So, Jersey, it’s a cold and breezy start, but a beautiful fall afternoon is on the way. Keep that jacket handy, especially if you’re heading out early or coming home late.

Make it a great Thursday, Jersey!
