A Pennsylvania man was arrested Tuesday evening after a police pursuit involving multiple law enforcement agencies ended in Newark.

According to Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda, officers were notified at approximately 6:50 p.m. on October 20 that Millburn and Union police were pursuing a vehicle connected to a felony investigation.

Authorities said Newark’s Police Drone Unit assisted officers in tracking the vehicle as it traveled westbound on Interstate 78.

The pursuit ended when the driver exited the highway at Exit 55, struck a curb, and disabled the vehicle.

Police said the suspect abandoned the vehicle and attempted to escape on foot but was quickly located and taken into custody.

The suspect, identified as Robert Spriggins, 30, of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, was charged with eluding, obstruction of the administration of law, and resisting arrest.

No injuries were reported during the incident.
