NJ AG Announces Election Security Measures Ahead of November Vote

New Jersey

By: Richard L. Smith

New Jersey officials are preparing additional safeguards for the upcoming general election, with efforts focused on protecting voters, preventing interference, and ensuring a smooth voting process statewide.

According to a statement released by the New Jersey Attorney General’s Office, Attorney General Jennifer Davenport announced that the Department of Law and Public Safety will provide legal assistance, monitor election security, and respond to complaints involving voter intimidation or other unlawful activity.

The measures come as New Jersey prepares for the November 3 general election, with early in-person voting scheduled to begin October 24 and continue through November 1.

Officials reminded residents that eligible voters have three options for casting their ballots: voting by mail, participating in early voting, or visiting their assigned polling locations on Election Day.

Residents voting by mail are encouraged to return their ballots promptly. Completed ballots may also be placed in designated secure drop boxes or delivered to county election offices by 8 p.m. on November 3.

As part of the state's election protection efforts, the Division on Civil Rights will investigate complaints involving voter intimidation, harassment, discrimination, and other unlawful barriers to voting.

Voters experiencing problems may contact the division at 1-833-653-2748 or email NJDCR4U@njcivilrights.gov.

Meanwhile, state attorneys will be available around the clock to assist county election officials with legal questions during early voting and Election Day.

The Division of Criminal Justice will also monitor reports of election fraud and other potential violations, while state cybersecurity officials will watch for threats targeting election systems.

Attorney General Davenport emphasized that protecting the voting process remains a priority as residents prepare to cast their ballots.

State officials are also preparing to address any unlawful federal interference with New Jersey's election process.

Residents seeking additional voting information, including polling locations and early voting sites, can visit the New Jersey Division of Elections' voter information portal.

The general election is scheduled for Tuesday, November 3, 2026.
