Chilly Monday Morning Gives Way to Sunshine Across North Jersey

Newark

By: Richard L. Smith

We are waking up to another brisk and chilly morning in Newark and throughout the North Jersey region as we begin a brand-new workweek.

Good morning and Happy Monday, Jersey!

If you’re heading out early to work, school, or the bus stop, you’ll definitely want to grab a jacket. At 4:30 a.m., it’s currently 49 degrees in downtown Newark, with a light breeze making it feel slightly cooler.

And Newark isn’t the only place feeling that fall chill this morning!

Temperatures are dipping across the Garden State, with Sussex County checking in at a cold 30 degrees, Montville at 36, Kearny at 42, Toms River at 36, and Trenton at 37 degrees.

That’s some serious jacket weather, especially for our early commuters and students waiting at those bus stops!

The good news is that temperatures will gradually climb as the morning moves along, giving us a pretty comfortable autumn afternoon. We’ll enjoy plenty of sunshine, dry conditions, and temperatures that feel just about right for this time of year.

According to the National Weather Service, today will be sunny, with a high near 64 degrees. Northeast winds will range from 5 to 8 mph.

Tonight, skies will become partly cloudy, with temperatures dropping to around 49 degrees and north winds between 5 and 9 mph.

So, keep that jacket handy this morning, but you might be able to loosen things up a little by lunchtime as the sunshine works its magic.

We’re looking at a beautiful fall Monday across North Jersey, with no rain to interrupt your plans.
