Authorities are investigating a deadly collision involving a bicyclist in Newark’s South Ward Saturday afternoon.
According to preliminary reports, emergency responders were dispatched to the intersection of Haynes Avenue and Frelinghuysen Avenue on Saturday, October 10, after receiving reports of a bicyclist struck by a vehicle.
The victim was transported to University Hospital in Newark, where they were pronounced dead.
The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office was notified and reportedly responded to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision.
The victim’s identity has not been released, and additional details regarding the vehicle involved were not immediately available.
The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
