Gatorade Recall Affecting More Than 122,000 Cases Includes New Jersey

New Jersey

New Jersey consumers are being alerted to a nationwide Gatorade recall involving more than 122,000 cases of the popular sports drink.

According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, PepsiCo voluntarily recalled certain 28-ounce bottles of Gatorade after it was discovered that the products may contain undeclared Yellow No. 5 and/or Yellow No. 6 food dyes.

The recall includes Gatorade Lemon Lime, Lemon Lime Zero, Orange and Orange Zero distributed in 37 states, including New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania.

PepsiCo initiated the recall on September 25, and the FDA classified it as a Class II recall on October 2.

That classification means exposure could cause temporary or medically reversible health effects, while the probability of serious health consequences is considered remote.

Consumers who have 28-ounce bottles of the affected flavors are encouraged to check the lot information to determine whether their products are included in the recall.
