North Bergen school officials and police investigated a potentially threatening social media post concerning Horace Mann School Monday morning, prompting enhanced security during student drop-off.

According to information released by the North Bergen School District, district leadership became aware of the post and immediately notified the North Bergen Police Department.

Police launched an investigation in cooperation with school officials while additional security measures were put in place at Horace Mann School as students arrived.

Authorities determined that the post was made by a student, whose identity is being withheld, and that there was no credible threat to the school community.

District officials said the student will face disciplinary action and receive counseling in accordance with district policies.

The enhanced security measures have since been discontinued.

The district thanked North Bergen Police for its swift response and encouraged parents to monitor their children's social media activity and discuss responsible and safe use of online platforms.
