Good morning, Jersey, and welcome to Thursday!
We are waking up to fall-like conditions across Newark and the North Jersey region this morning as attention begins to turn toward a coastal storm that could brush parts of the area this weekend.
At 4:30 a.m., we’re up early with you at Broad and Market streets in Downtown Newark, where temperatures are around 54 degrees. You’ll definitely want to grab a jacket before heading out the door.
Around the region, Somerville and Trenton are at 51 degrees, Morristown is waking up to 48, Sussex County is around 49, and Irvington is at 52 degrees.
According to the National Weather Service, today will be mostly sunny with a high near 68 degrees. Northeast winds of 13 to 17 mph could gust as high as 30 mph, adding an extra chill to the air.
Tonight turns mostly cloudy with temperatures dropping to around 55 degrees. Northeast winds will remain noticeable, with gusts reaching approximately 26 mph.
We’re also keeping an eye on the weekend forecast as a coastal storm could impact portions of the region.
If you’re planning weekend errands or shopping, today may be a good opportunity to get some of that done early.
