A Northfield Police Department employee has been charged following an investigation into the alleged unauthorized use of a national law enforcement database.
According to a statement released by the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office, Malachi Valentine, 25, of Pleasantville, was arrested Wednesday, September 23, 2026, and charged with second-degree official misconduct, second-degree pattern of official misconduct, third-degree computer criminal activity and petty disorderly persons harassment.
Authorities allege that while employed by the Northfield Police Department, Valentine used the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) database for purposes outside the scope of his employment. Prosecutors said the alleged activity occurred after his appointment to the department in 2023.
Valentine was taken into custody and later released on a complaint-summons.
The Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Professional Standards Unit conducted the investigation.
