Hazmat crews are on the scene of an early-morning tractor-trailer crash that could cause traffic delays for motorists traveling through Somerset County Tuesday.
According to preliminary information, emergency crews responded shortly before 3:40 a.m. to I-78 westbound near Exit 21B in the Bedminster area after a tractor-trailer jackknifed.
Initial reports indicated that multiple saddle tanks were ruptured, resulting in an estimated 25 gallons of diesel fuel being spilled.
Firefighters and Hazmat personnel were called to the scene to contain and clean up the fuel.
Reports also indicated that a FedEx tractor-trailer was at the scene, with multiple vehicles reportedly jackknifed.
Motorists traveling along I-78 westbound should expect possible delays while emergency crews continue cleanup operations.
No injuries have been confirmed at this time. The circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation.
