Pedestrian Seriously Injured in Hit-and-Run Crash on I-280 in Newark

New Jersey State Police are investigating a late-night hit-and-run crash that left a pedestrian seriously injured on Interstate 280 in Newark.

According to preliminary information from New Jersey State Police, troopers responded to the westbound lanes of Interstate 280 near milepost 13 in Newark at approximately 11:48 p.m.

 

Investigators said an unidentified vehicle was traveling west when it struck a man who was walking in the roadway.

 

The driver reportedly continued from the scene before troopers arrived.

 

The unidentified male pedestrian suffered serious injuries and was transported to an area hospital for treatment.

 

Authorities have not released additional information regarding the vehicle involved or the circumstances leading up to the collision.

 

The crash remains under investigation by New Jersey State Police.
