Authorities in Union County are investigating a pedestrian strike that reportedly claimed one life in Elizabeth Wednesday night.

Emergency responders were dispatched at approximately 8:38 p.m. to reports of a pedestrian struck in the city.
Upon arrival, crews found the victim suffering from severe injuries and reportedly in traumatic arrest as emergency personnel worked at the scene.
A later update shortly before midnight confirmed that the incident occurred in the area of Spring and Bond streets and indicated that one person had died as a result of the collision.
The circumstances surrounding the crash, including what led to the pedestrian being struck, have not yet been released.
The identity of the victim was not immediately available, and there was no confirmed information regarding the driver or whether any charges have been filed.
The incident remains under investigation.
