Firefighters and hazardous materials crews responded to a chemical-related fire early Thursday morning at a fragrance manufacturing facility in Somerset County.
According to preliminary information, emergency crews were called to 53 Veronica Avenue in Franklin Township shortly before 4 a.m. after reports of a chemical reaction fire inside a warehouse.
Firefighters arriving at the location reportedly encountered a haze condition associated with the incident, prompting a Hazmat response to the facility.
The address is home to Custom Essence, a fragrance design company that develops fragrances for a variety of products.
According to the company’s website, Custom Essence describes itself as a full-service fragrance design house with access to technology, research, natural materials and specialty ingredients.
The company provides fragrance development for several markets, including personal care, beauty, household and other scented products.
No injuries have been reported at this time.
Details regarding what caused the chemical reaction, the extent of any damage and what specific materials were involved have not yet been released.
The incident remains under investigation, and additional information is expected as authorities continue assessing the scene.
