Newark Police are continuing to investigate a shots-fired incident that occurred in the city’s South Ward Saturday night.

Residents told RLS Media that police responded to the area of 872 South 15th Street at approximately 10 p.m. after a ShotSpotter device detected gunfire in the area.
Officers searching the scene reportedly recovered shell casings along the side of a property. Police also recovered live rounds at the location.
The department’s Shooting Response Team and Crime Scene Unit were notified and responded to investigate.
No property damage was reported, and there were no gunshot victims at the time of the initial investigation.
The circumstances surrounding the gunfire remain under investigation
