A 31-year-old Atlantic City man has admitted to charges stemming from two separate incidents, including one in which authorities said he repeatedly headbutted a police officer during an arrest.
According to information released by Atlantic County authorities, Nashid Seymore pleaded guilty September 3 to fourth-degree unlawful possession of a weapon and aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer.
The first incident occurred January 5 after Atlantic City Police responded to Indiana and Atlantic avenues for reports of a man threatening people with a knife.
Police located Seymore at the scene with a knife and said he admitted to brandishing the weapon during a verbal dispute.
Several months later, on May 13, police encountered Seymore following a physical altercation with another man near Tennessee and Atlantic avenues.
While officers were taking him into custody, authorities said Seymore repeatedly headbutted an officer, causing injuries.
Under the plea agreement, prosecutors will recommend a one-year New Jersey State Prison sentence.
Seymore is scheduled to be sentenced October 13.
