Irvington fire officials are investigating the cause of a fire that engulfed a small school bus Friday afternoon near the entrance to the Garden State Parkway.
The fire broke out just before 4 p.m. on Western Parkway, near the 144 on-ramp to the southbound lanes of the Garden State Parkway.
Fire crews were dispatched to the scene and arrived to find the school bus heavily engulfed in flames. Firefighters stretched multiple lines and began working to knock down the blaze.
The fire was brought under control in less than 30 minutes.
Crews searched the vehicle and surrounding area for any trapped or injured occupants, but no injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by Irvington fire officials.
