Police are investigating an unusual and suspicious incident after a firearm was reportedly discovered on the roof of a high school in Newarkâs Central Ward overnight.
According to preliminary information, police requested the Newark Fire Division to respond to Newark Vocational High School, located at 301 West Kinney Street, shortly after 2 a.m.
Wednesday after a weapon was reportedly located on the roof of the building.
The firearm was recovered from the roof, according to initial reports.
Authorities have not immediately disclosed how the weapon ended up on top of the school, who discovered it, or what prompted police to respond to the location.
The circumstances surrounding the discovery remain under investigation, and officials are expected to determine whether the firearm is connected to any other incident.
No injuries were immediately reported.
