A 71-year-old Franklin Township man has been indicted on a first-degree murder charge in connection with the strangulation death of his 40-year-old daughter.
According to court documents and statements made during court proceedings, Dennis J. Hall was indicted in connection with the June 2026 death.
Authorities said Franklin Township Police were dispatched to a home on East Avenue on Thursday, June 11, after Hall called 911 and reported that his daughter was not breathing.
During the emergency call, Hall allegedly admitted that he had strangled his daughter, according to authorities.
Responding officers attempted lifesaving measures before the woman was rushed to a local hospital. She remained hospitalized but died from her injuries the following day, June 12.
An autopsy conducted by the Gloucester/Salem/Cumberland Regional Medical Examiner determined that the woman died from asphyxiation.
Hall was arrested at the scene and initially charged with attempted murder. After his daughter died and authorities received the autopsy findings, the charge was upgraded to first-degree murder.
If convicted, Hall could face up to life in prison.
