Heading to Sunday Worship? Heavy Rain Expected Across Newark, North Jersey

Newark

By: Richard L. Smith

Good morning, New Jersey! We hope you’re waking up well on this early Sunday morning.

If you’re heading out for an early Sunday church service, you’ll definitely want to grab the umbrella or poncho before leaving home. A weather system moving through the region is expected to bring showers and some heavy downpours beginning around 5 a.m. depending on what part of Jersey you are in.

It’s currently a cool 69 degrees in Newark at 4:34 a.m., but conditions are expected to turn wet as the morning progresses.

It will be a quick moving storm and won’t last all morning.

For those attending early services between 7 and 9 a.m., be prepared for periods of rain and possibly a thunderstorm as the front passes through Newark and much of the North Jersey region.

According to the National Weather Service, showers and thunderstorms are likely mainly before 11 a.m. Skies should gradually become mostly sunny afterward, with a high near 82 degrees. The chance of precipitation is 60 percent.

By Sunday night, skies are expected to become mostly clear, with temperatures falling to around 65 degrees.

So keep that umbrella close this morning, take your time on wet roads and sidewalks, and enjoy what should become a much nicer Sunday once the rain moves out.

Be careful out there, New Jersey, and happy Sunday from all of us here at RLS Media!
