Newark Public Safety officials are asking for the public’s help locating a 52-year-old man wanted for questioning in connection with a robbery reported in the city earlier this year.

According to information released by Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda, Sr., police are searching for Laroy Irving in connection with a May 12, 2026 robbery.
Police said that at approximately 9:25 p.m., a woman was taking out trash from her apartment in the 200 block of Central Avenue when she was approached by a man who allegedly took her cellphone.
The suspect was described as approximately 5-foot-6 to 5-foot-7 and was reportedly wearing a gray jacket, white T-shirt, white belt, light blue ripped jeans and a blue-and-white bandana.
Authorities said Irving has brown eyes and black hair.
The investigation remains active, and officials are urging anyone with information regarding Irving’s whereabouts to contact the Newark Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS.
