We are waking up to a cool and overcast start to the week as Newark and the North Jersey region prepare for a much-improved weather day after a soggy overnight.

Good morning, New Jersey! If you were out in that rain last night, we hope you made it home safely. It was an ugly overnight in parts of our region, with periods of heavy rain and some flooding reported.
A lot of that rain has moved out, but we’re not completely finished with the wet weather just yet.
We’re waking up to 71 degrees in downtown Newark with overcast skies and some rain still falling around the region.
So, definitely grab the umbrella if you’re heading out early this morning.
The good news is that this will not be an all-day rain event. Showers should begin wrapping up as we move through the morning, giving us an opportunity to put those umbrellas away.
Around the horn in New Jersey, temperatures are starting off comfortable, with 67 degrees in Sussex, 68 in Somerville, 71 down in Toms River, 67 in Bergen County and 68 in Edison.
And after dealing with plenty of summer humidity lately, today should feel much more comfortable.
According to the National Weather Service, there is a chance of showers before 8 a.m., followed by patchy fog through about 10 a.m. Otherwise, skies will become partly sunny with a high near 85 degrees and light northwest winds.
There is a slight chance of another shower or thunderstorm late in the day.
Tonight will be partly cloudy with temperatures falling to around 71 degrees, with a slight chance of an early evening shower or thunderstorm.
Have a great Monday, Jersey! Keep the umbrella nearby early, but look forward to improving conditions as we get through the morning.
