A 3-year-old boy remained hospitalized in critical but stable condition after being pulled from a swimming pool at a Hackettstown home Thursday evening.
According to Hackettstown Police, officers responded to a residence on Reese Avenue at approximately 6:55 p.m. on August 13 following reports of a possible drowning involving a young child.
When officers arrived, they found the boy surrounded by several adults. Police said the child was breathing but was unresponsive.
Authorities learned that the boy had been found in a swimming pool and pulled from the water, with CPR initiated before officers arrived.
The Hackettstown First Aid & Rescue Squad transported the child to Hatchery Hill School, where the Hackettstown Fire Department had established a landing zone for an Atlantic Air One medical helicopter.
The boy was then airlifted to Morristown Medical Center for further treatment.
Police said the child was listed in stable but critical condition.
The circumstances surrounding how the boy ended up in the pool remained under investigation, and authorities have not released additional details.
