A little less hot and a little less humid — that’s how we’re calling this Wednesday across Newark and the North Jersey region.
Good morning, NJ, and welcome to the middle of the week!
We’re still waking up to some humidity around the region at 4:30 a.m., but forecasters have been promising us some better weather for Wednesday, and it looks like we’re finally going to get it.
It’s a warm 75 degrees in downtown Newark early this morning, but compared with the oppressive heat and humidity we’ve dealt with over the past several days, you should definitely notice a difference when you step outside today.
Around the horn, temperatures are starting at about 66 degrees in Sussex, 70 in Morristown, 67 in Somerville and 73 along the Jersey Shore, while Newark remains one of the warmer spots at 75 degrees.
Some showers are moving through portions of South Jersey early this morning, but here in North Jersey, we’re looking pretty good.
You shouldn’t have to worry much about carrying the umbrella during the daytime hours.
According to the National Weather Service, Wednesday will be sunny with a high near 90 degrees. Winds will be light out of the north at around 3 to 5 mph.
There is a slight change overnight, with increasing clouds and a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly between 2 a.m. and 5 a.m.
Thursday. The overnight low will settle around 72 degrees.
And while today gives us some relief, the really comfortable stretch of weather is expected to arrive toward Friday.
So enjoy the improvement today, North Jersey. After days of hazy, hot and humid conditions, we’ve earned this break.
