If it’s not back-to-back heatwaves or crazy thunderstorms, it will be a perfect sunny day here in New Jersey, but weather never stops this community from being out and having a time!
Hi there, RLS Metro Media family and friends! I hope your summer has been as amazing as mine, from lying under the sun at the beach, going to cool festivals & concerts, and just enjoying those nice long car rides, bike rides, or even walks home at night, where the summer breeze is flowing in your hair, making you feel like the whole world is quiet; where that feeling could last forever.
Just as summer should be: no worries while you're having fun, just peace and calmness while having fun!
The fun continues right here in my community! Hosted by the Honorable Mayor Daniel J. Reiman, Movies in the Park is held throughout July & August every Wednesday and Saturday starting at 8:30 p.m. at Carteret Park, located at Carteret Ave. and Cypress St., Carteret, NJ 07008.
You can bring your friends, family, and loved ones to sit down on a blanket or chair to enjoy a nice movie, maybe with some good food or even snacks! A tradition many families have been so happy to be a part of for more than a decade.
“Even with it raining earlier, our kids do not care lol we will be attending movie night because they love it that much,” a parent exclaimed.
On Saturday, August 8, they showed ‘Wicked For Good’, and before any songs even came on, all the little kids, especially the girls, were belting out the songs and having fun; whether you are Team Galinda or Team Elphaba, everybody was having a good time. Personally, I’m Team Elphaba, and she deserves to have her story told.
‘Wicked For Good’ continues the story of the now-vilified wicked witch, Elphaba (Cynthia Erivo), alongside Glinda (Ariana Grande), the beloved good witch, in this fight about what it means to do the right thing even if it means looking like the bad guy.
“It’s such a cool and nice night to watch a movie on the big screen that isn’t in the movie theaters, trying to make summer last as long as we can!” an older couple explained to me.
No matter what, when you go, there are always sections people fall into: the locked-in ones who pay attention only to the movie, the couples trying to get out and enjoy, the kids who came to play and only play while their parents watch the movie, and the kids who really came for the movie that are singing along and not worried about anything else. There is something for everyone when you go there!
The cute little community of Carteret makes sure we enjoy these last few moments of summer before we are slowly led into the quieter, colder months. It’s always nice to see every year that puts a smile on my face! Until next time, RLS Metro Breaking News family and friends, be outside while you can!
