We’re waking up to warm, steamy conditions as we wrap up the workweek across Newark and the North Jersey region.

It’s currently 78 degrees in downtown Newark, and if you’re heading out to the bus stop, walking the dog, or commuting to work, be prepared for muggy, tropical-like air.
Humidity is already high and will make it feel much warmer than the thermometer suggests.
Expect another hot and uncomfortable day, with hazy, humid conditions stretching across much of the tri-state area.
Overnight temperatures will struggle to fall below the upper 70s, and heat index values this afternoon could climb into the upper 90s, with some locations feeling as hot as 100 degrees.
According to the National Weather Service, today will be mostly sunny with a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms developing after 2 p.m.
High temperatures will reach around 90 degrees, with heat index values as high as 98. Winds will remain light before shifting to the west around 6 mph during the afternoon.
Tonight, showers and thunderstorms are likely before 2 a.m., followed by a slight chance of additional showers.
Patchy fog may develop toward daybreak as skies gradually become partly cloudy. Overnight lows will settle around 74 degrees, with a 60 percent chance of rain.
Stay cool, stay hydrated, and take frequent breaks if you’re spending time outdoors.
