We’re waking up to cooler, more comfortable conditions across Newark and the North Jersey region this Thursday morning after several days of stormy weather.
If you’re heading out early to work or the bus stop, you’ll find temperatures sitting at 70 degrees in downtown Newark with a light breeze making it feel even more comfortable.
There’s no need for a jacket this morning.
Skies remain mostly cloudy to start the day, but conditions are expected to improve as the morning progresses. While a few showers are possible later today, it will not be a washout.
Around the state, temperatures this morning include 67 degrees in Sussex County, 67 in Somerville, 69 in Farmingdale, 69 in Toms River, and 70 degrees in Newark.
High temperatures will climb into the upper 70s this afternoon. Because scattered showers and a few thunderstorms are possible after 2 p.m., it’s a good idea to keep an umbrella nearby if you’ll be outdoors.
According to the National Weather Service, there is a 40% chance of showers and thunderstorms this afternoon under partly sunny skies, with a high near 79 degrees. North winds will range from 8 to 10 mph.
Tonight will be partly cloudy with a low around 66 degrees and light northwest winds.
