Emergency responders were called to a crash in Newark shortly after midnight Thursday after a vehicle left the roadway and slammed into a tree, knocking down a traffic signal.
The collision occurred at approximately 12:16 a.m. near Route 21 and Emmet Street, according to emergency dispatch reports.
Firefighters and EMS crews responded to the scene, where they found a vehicle that had struck a tree.
The impact also brought down a traffic signal in the area.
One person suffered a head injury and was transported to University Hospitalfor treatment. The extent of the victim’s injuries has not yet been released.
Motorists should expect possible traffic disruptions in the area while crews work to clear the scene and assess damage to the traffic signal.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
