A 22-year-old Union City man was killed early Wednesday morning following a collision involving an electric scooter and a sanitation truck, authorities said.

According to information released by Hudson County Prosecutor Wayne Mello, the crash occurred at approximately 3:30 a.m. on July 15.
Union City police responded to the scene after receiving reports of a collision involving a sanitation truck and an electric scooter.
Officers found the scooter operator, later identified as Mauricio Rodriguez, 22, of Union City, suffering from serious injuries.
Rodriguez was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.
The Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit, with assistance from the Union City Police Department, is investigating the circumstances surrounding the fatal crash.
No additional information has been released.
