Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda Sr. is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect accused of stealing a package from a resident’s front porch earlier this month.
According to Newark authorities, the theft occurred at approximately 12:10 p.m. on July 10, 2026, at a home in the 50 block of South Orange Avenue.
Surveillance video captured the suspect removing a package containing approximately $200 worth of clothing from the victim’s porch before leaving the area.
The suspect is described as a possibly Black male with a gray beard.
At the time of the incident, he was wearing a dark-colored long-sleeve shirt, black pants, a blue Los Angeles Dodgers baseball cap, and white Air Jordan 1 sneakers.
Anyone with information about the suspect’s identity is urged to contact the Newark Police Division. Tips can also be submitted anonymously through the Newark Police tip line.
