A fatal shooting inside a North Bergen apartment on Friday afternoon remains under active investigation, according to information released by the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office.
Authorities said North Bergen police were dispatched shortly after 1:30 p.m. on Friday, July 10, to an apartment at 1525 48th Street following reports of a shooting.
When officers arrived, they found a man, later identified as 47-year-old Christopher Novembre of North Bergen, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
Novembre was transported to Jersey City Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
Officials said the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the official cause and manner of death.
According to the Prosecutor’s Office, investigators have identified the individual involved in the shooting.
However, no charges have been announced as authorities continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The investigation is being led by the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit in partnership with the North Bergen Police Department.
Additional information is expected to be released as the investigation progresses.
