Saddle Brook

A Saddle Brook police officer has been arrested and charged after a Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office investigation into an alleged use-of-force incident during an arrest.

Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced that 43-year-old Attilio Dente, a police officer with the Saddle Brook Police Department, is accused of striking a man in the head with his firearm while attempting to make an arrest on June 9, 2026.

Authorities allege the victim suffered bodily injury.

The investigation also determined that Dente allegedly made a false entry in an incident report and intentionally deactivated his body-worn camera while at the scene.

The investigation began on June 10 after the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Confidential Investigations Unit received information from the Saddle Brook Police Department regarding possible violations of the agency’s use-of-force policy.

Dente was arrested on July 2 and charged with aggravated assault, tampering with public records, and obstruction.

He was released pending further court proceedings.
