A Jersey City man has been charged with murder following a fatal shooting that claimed the life of another city resident early Wednesday, according to information released by the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office.

Authorities said the shooting occurred at approximately 12:50 a.m. on July 1 in the area of Fulton Avenue and Bayside Place.
Officers with the Jersey City Police Department responded to reports of gunfire and found an injured man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
The victim, identified as 47-year-old Leighton Brown of Jersey City, was transported to Jersey City Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead several hours later.
The Regional Medical Examiner’s Office is expected to determine the official cause and manner of death.
During the preliminary investigation, Jersey City police identified 49-year-old Terrence Glenn of Jersey City as a person of interest and detained him at the scene.
Prosecutors said Glenn has since been charged with murder, unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose, and certain persons not to possess a firearm.
The investigation remains active and ongoing by the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and the Jersey City Police Department.
