Overturned Truck That Struck Harrison Rail Bridge Cleared After Hours-Long Response

Traffic disruptions continued for several hours Monday after an overturned tractor-trailer struck a railroad bridge in Harrison, spilling fuel and prompting an extensive emergency response.

The crash occurred near 332 Bergen Street at approximately 10 a.m. Preliminary information indicated the tractor-trailer collided with the rail bridge before overturning, causing a large fuel spill.
 

Police requested that NJ Transit evaluate the bridge for possible structural damage while Harrison police, the Harrison Fire Department, and New Jersey Transit Police secured the area.

 

By approximately 12:20 p.m., emergency crews reported the tractor and trailer had been righted, tow operators were cleaning up the scene, and fire personnel were clearing the incident.

 

No immediate information was released regarding injuries. 

The circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation.
