Authorities in Hudson County are investigating a deadly shooting that claimed the life of one man and left another injured in Jersey City early Sunday morning.

According to a statement released by Hudson County Prosecutor Wayne Mello, Jersey City police responded to reports of gunfire at approximately 2:30 a.m. on June 28 in the area of Orient Avenue and Martin Luther King Jr. Drive.
When officers arrived, they located 38-year-old Jenardo Tejada of Jersey City suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.
He was transported to Jersey City Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
During the investigation, officers also located a second victim, a 45-year-old Jersey City man, on Jackson Square with an apparent gunshot wound.
Authorities have not released an update on his condition.
The Regional Medical Examiner’s Office is expected to determine the cause and manner of Tejada’s death.
The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and the Jersey City Police Department continue to investigate the shooting. No arrests have been announced.
