BREAKING: Two Trucks Involved in Fiery Crash Shuts Down NJ Turnpike Inner Roadway in Carteret

New Jersey State Police are on the scene of a serious crash involving two tractor-trailers that erupted into flames on the New Jersey Turnpike in Carteret early Thursday morning.

The crash occurred just before 4:30 a.m. on the northbound inner roadway near Milepost 63.2, north of Interchange 12. According to preliminary information, one of the tractor-trailers became fully engulfed in flames after the collision. 

ABCTV-NY said that at least one of the trucks was reportedly carrying lumber.

 

As of 6:00 a.m., the northbound inner roadway remains completely closed while firefighters extinguish the blaze and troopers begin what is expected to be an extensive crash investigation.

 

The extent of any injuries has not yet been confirmed, and authorities have not released information regarding possible fatalities.

 

Motorists are urged to avoid the northbound inner roadway through Carteret and seek alternate routes, as significant delays are expected throughout the morning commute.
