Driver Ejected After Vehicle Overturns on Route 21 in Newark

A man was hospitalized after being ejected from a vehicle that overturned on Route 21 in Newark Wednesday afternoon.

According to Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda, the crash occurred at approximately 12 p.m. on June 24 in the southbound lanes of Route 21 near Mill Street.

 

When officers arrived, they found that the vehicle had overturned and that one male occupant had been ejected from the vehicle and thrown over the embankment onto the northbound side of the highway.

 

The victim was transported to University Hospital, where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

 

Four other occupants of the overturned vehicle were evaluated at the scene by EMS.

 

The cause of the crash remains under active investigation.
